Yuki Tanabe's first solo exhibition with the gallery presents wood-fired forms whose ash glaze is permitted its full weight. The title takes ash as both material and measure, the residue that settles into surface during firing.
Tanabe lets the kiln write the work. Across many days the glaze gathers and pools, and the forms keep that history, set down with a sparseness that lets their weight be felt rather than declared.
