Marthe Vandal's first Zuoz exhibition presents large charcoal drawings of the figure for the winter rooms. Bodies are caught in the act of being held, by another, by the frame, by the artist's own hand on the paper.
Vandal builds and erases in equal measure. The drawings keep the pressure of every gesture, the figure emerging from a ground worked dark and then partly recovered to the light.
